A virtual industrial zone is an area designated for industries but all other types of businesses are encouraged. One is specific for industries, the other only emphasizes industries but allows other businesses to flourish.They want Nyeri to be like Sweden, Singapore, Guangzhou in China or France. There will be businesses everywhere. Within every half a kilometer you will see XYZ company producing JKL products, another half kilometer you see a company selling ABC. The roads will be smooth, there will be power and piped water everywhere.There will be schools, hospitals. dispensaries, and entertainment centers everywhere. When the work of NDC is done, if you drive from Nyeri to Mukurweini, it is likely you will pass a shoe making factory at Muthinga, you drive on and find a businesses services center at Kiamwathi at Kaheti you find toy factory. You find shopping mall at Kangubiri, and at Mukurweini you find a marketing hub selling Nyeri products around the world. The same picture will be repeated when you travel through Othaya, Kieni, Tetu and Mathira. Everywhere you travel in Nyeri you feel like you are in a large city where factories and businesses are interposed with green fields. Everybody earns enough and the roads are full of God fearing Christians in their cars going to church on Sundays. This is what Nyeri will look like in 10 years.
The mission of NDC Limited is to turn the whole of Nyeri into one large urban center. NDC will introduce the creation of enterprise cells in every village. Enterprise cells are organizational vehicles to pool resources for starting jointly owned businesses. Every village will have an enterprise cell and everybody will be encouraged to be a member of one. Resource extraction, pooling and management are major activities for NDC to raise the necessary resources to start thousands of businesses. NDC will start a fully owned subsidiary dedicated to managing resources to ensure that every asset will be used for creating capital. NDC will encourage the establishmnet of businesses in the rural areas. NDC will loby for more infrastructure so that water, power and good roads are in every area. NDC will encourage a business in every other home. The company will promote marketing of their products in the larger Kenya and outside to EAC, Comesa and the whole world. To assist businesses export everywhere, NDC will assign the resource management company the role of a joint marketer for Nyeri businesses. NDC recognizes the important role played by development partners in catalyzing development. NDC will work with the central and local government to attract the necessary support in approvals and resource inputs. NDC will also work with and recruit donors, NGO’s, corporations, individuals and other development organizations.
